about
I wrote this a few years ago. It's basically about my wife, but her name is not Maria. LOL! Her name, Margee, didn't really lend itself to this song very well, but she is the one I was thinking of.
lyrics
I Reach Out For Maria
I can see her on the meadow,
flowers aflame in bloom.
The rain is falling misty,
she smiles a crescent moon.
Chorus
When I find myself in trouble,
when I find myself in pain,
I reach out for Maria
in the early evening rain.
She stands upon a hillside,
her breath it hangs in clouds.
Her heart is full of sunshine,
to chase away the doubts.
Chorus
When I wake up feeling empty,
when I wake up feeling lost,
I reach out for Maria
in the early morning frost.
Break-
I find her deep in slumber,
with the sunlight on her face.
I look at her and wonder,
at her beauty and her grace.
Chorus
When I wake up in the morning,
and her hair is all undone,
I reach out for Maria
in the summer’s golden sun.
She dances light as snowfall,
across a frozen lake.
It warms my hear to see her,
she gives more than she takes.
Chorus
When I’ve nothing more to give her,
when all is said and done,
I will reach out for Maria
in the fading winter sun.

This is my third CD release and the first one produced by my
son, Jesse Aycock and featuring both of my sons playing on the record, so it was especially gratifying.
The writing of these songs and recording this record lifted me out of a dark place and made me so grateful to family and the healing power of music.

Poetic lyrics about things that matter, and inventive musicianship in the service of the song, and lastly melodies that are brave and unexpected. Scott Aycock
Beautifully understated finger/style acoustic and electric guitar. Melodies that surprise and delight, reminding us to take a moment and enjoy the simple things this world has to offer. Scott Aycock
