about

A song about leaving behind the past for the possibility of the future. My son Jesse, put some beautiful pedal steel on this one, and John layed down some piano that reminiscent of that great country pianist Floyd Cramer.

lyrics

I'm on the outskirts of lonesome
going someplace from nowhere.
Life always looked better
from inside my dreams.
Cuz I'm heading south of lonesome
to a better place indeed.
Where it's warm and sunny
and the bluebird always sings.

Chorus-
The ghosts of the past will be forgotten
as tomorrow will soon be today.
And it's always best, at least I've heard it said,
to just let sleeping dogs lay.

And I will wake up to the sound
of my own heart's beat
and let it be my guide
for these poor tired feet.
I've got miles to go to get there,
many miles I've left behind,
as I cross this big ol' country
I leave that lonesome place behind.

Chorus

about

Scott Aycock Tulsa, Oklahoma

I am a singer/songwriter living in Tulsa Oklahoma.
This is my third CD release and the first one produced by my son, Jesse Aycock and featuring both of my sons playing on the record, so it was especially gratifying.
The writing of these songs and recording this record lifted me out of a dark place and made me so grateful to family and the healing power of music.
These songs celebrate hope.
