about
I am a fan of writer Anne Lamott and follow her on Facebook. One morning I was reading a post from her and in that post she said, "We are all just walking each other home." I shared with my friend and fellow singer/songwriter Tom Skinner and he said, "Scott, we gotta write a song around that line."
Sadly, I never got to write it with Tom, as a few weeks later he died. A couple of years later a melody came to me and then I remembered that line and soon the rest came pretty easy.
I dedicate this song to Tom.
lyrics
A man wakes up in the AM
And feels an awful chill.
He sits down at the kitchen table
With a pile of unpaid bills.
Next to him his wife she stands
30 years by her man,
Cup of coffee in her hand,
She says it all works out in the end.
Chorus-
So take care of what your’re given
Remember we’re all forgiven,
Heed the words of ol’ Bob Dylan
Stop the dyin’, start the livin’.
You man feel you’re all alone,
Feel it echo through your bones.
Rest assured this life’s on loan,
We’re all walkin’ each other home.
There’s a man out in the street,
Been three days since he eat.
He keeps paddin’ the same ol’ beat,
Find some shade for a cool retreat,
When a boy comes up to him
With a crooked sideways grin,
Says, “hey mister, you could use a friend.”
Then he takes him by the hand.
CHORUS
For every woman, man and child
We’re on this earth for a little while.
Though we may walk a billion miles
In the end love will stand the trials.
We must remember we’re not along
When the plow strikes the stone
And the seeds of love are sown
Take a hand and walk on home.
CHORUS

I am a singer/songwriter living in Tulsa Oklahoma.
This is my third CD release and the first one produced by my
son, Jesse Aycock and featuring both of my sons playing on the record, so it was especially gratifying.
The writing of these songs and recording this record lifted me out of a dark place and made me so grateful to family and the healing power of music.
These songs celebrate hope....more
Poetic lyrics about things that matter, and inventive musicianship in the service of the song, and lastly melodies that are brave and unexpected. Scott Aycock
Beautifully understated finger/style acoustic and electric guitar. Melodies that surprise and delight, reminding us to take a moment and enjoy the simple things this world has to offer. Scott Aycock

A perfect tribute to one of the most underrated music hubs in America by some of the most under-recognized, talented musicians playing today. kristin ides
