Well this is the first love song I ever wrote for my wife, after we were married.
We were living in our second house and we didn't have money, yet, to purchase or make curtains, so we were making do with what we had, which was some old pull down shades, dingy and yellow, and this particular shade had a tear in it, where the AM sun came through every AM in the summer and stabbed me in the eyes.
I woke up one AM and propped myself on my elbow and watched this finger of light move slowly to where my wife was sleeping. I wrote this song shortly after.

Sunlight pours through a tear in my bedroom shade
warming my face, as I awake, to see you lying there.
A finger of light reaches across your pillowcase,
resting ever gently on your still sleeping face.

I long for your tender embrace.
Your silent beauty,

You stir slowly turning your face from the sun to me,
seeking those cooler places, deep down in the sheets.

coming to rest on my chest, as you drift away.

and think of the dreams we had and all of our plans.
